TONAK is one of the world's most significant headwear manufacturers. The company was founded in 1799 in Nový Jičín and still produces TONAK felt hats there today. The brand exports across Europe and overseas, serving two types of customers — B2C shoppers in the Czech and European markets, and B2B partners within the EU.

Main project challenges

The existing e-shop was falling behind both technically and visually. Content and commerce were entangled in a way that confused customers — they moved between sections unsure whether they were on the blog or in the shop. Every change ran into accumulated technical debt, making it slower and more expensive. At the same time, TONAK needed B2B functionality for its EU partners — without the cost of a Shopify Plus licence.

How the collaboration process worked

Sounds Good Agency approached TONAK with a proposal. TONAK decided to proceed without a tender and they started work together straight away.

TONAK actively participated in development and handled part of the work in-house to optimise costs. Sounds Good acted as both technical partner and consultant — regularly reviewing priorities and adjusting scope to keep the project within budget.

Enhanced features for a better user experience

Our main goals were a significant modernisation of the website, expanding the e-shop with new features (stock levels, promotional discounts, etc.), and a major improvement to the B2B section. Shopify combined with the SparkLayer app was a great help in achieving all of this.
